Mark Twain often comes in handy when preaching or leading a Bible study. Today as I taught on the Ten Commandments, and was pointing out that it was right on the heels of God's mighty rescue of Israel from Egypt that the Israelites bowed to an idol, I was able to use this Twain quote to good effect:

If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you. This is the principal difference between a dog and a man.
