The Concord School Log Cabin built in 1844 is one of the oldest one room school houses west of the Mississippi. Earlier this year, it was discovered within the home of a South County homeowner. About 30 years later the Log Cabin School was moved and then incorporated into Peter Friedrich's 1872 home. Subsequent additions to the house obscured the Log Cabin and eventually it was forgotten that the Log Cabin was still contained within this South County home. Fortunately, a South County businessman has purchased the house for the purpose of restoring and preserving both the 1872 Peter Friedrich house and the 1844 Concord School Log Cabin.
